91ÖÆƬ³§ proudly welcomed Florida Commissioner of Education Anastasios Kamoutsas to campus on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 for an official tour and conversations about the future of higher education in Florida.

The Commissioner’s visit coincided with 91ÖÆƬ³§’s Senior Preview Day, an annual event that drew some 675 local high school seniors to campus from 91ÖÆƬ³§’s 5 county service area. Students had the opportunity to tour the college, meet faculty and staff, and explore their choice of a Workforce Program Tour or an Academic Degree Tour—experiencing firsthand the many opportunities 91ÖÆƬ³§ offers to help them launch their futures.

Commissioner Kamoutsas, who was recently appointed to lead the Florida Department of Education, visited classrooms, labs, simulators and program areas across campus. His whirl-wind tour highlighted 91ÖÆƬ³§’s signature strengths in Health Sciences and Workforce Development which play a vital role in preparing graduates for high-demand careers.

Throughout the day, 91ÖÆƬ³§ emphasized its 2025-26 theme of “Pursue Greatness” and its overall mission of Changing Lives and Creating Futures. Commissioner Kamoutsas witnessed how Chipola is living out that mission—not only through its academic and workforce programs, but also through impacting the local community.

91ÖÆƬ³§ President Dr. Sarah Clemmons expressed gratitude for the Commissioner’s visit: “We are deeply honored that Commissioner Kamoutsas chose to visit 91ÖÆƬ³§ so early in his service,” Dr. Clemmons said. “At 91ÖÆƬ³§, everything we do is centered on student success. Our mission is always to change lives and create futures, and our theme, Pursue Greatness, inspires us to challenge students to reach their highest potential- while we continually strive to do the same as an institution. The Commissioner’s visit on Senior Preview Day was especially meaningful, as it allowed him to see our faculty, staff, and students working together to show the many opportunities 91ÖÆƬ³§ provides.”

91ÖÆƬ³§ extends its appreciation to Commissioner Kamoutsas and the Florida Department of Education for their continued partnership and support. The visit served as a reminder of the shared commitment to providing access to affordable, high-quality education that transforms lives and uplifts communities.
